An eagle

4. What character do you empathize with, or resemble best?
Harry: His love for his friends, bravery (usually), and willing to stand up for what he knows is right.
Hermione: Her love of books and taking charge or being the leader.

5. What position do you play at Quidditch?

Probably Seeker, since I don’t take to well at hitting or getting hit (too much) with balls.

6. Which teacher is your favorite?

To read about….Professor Snape or Umbridge (heh)Favorite….McGonagall

7. Any Harry Potter 7 predictions?

I definitely think there is going to be something dramatic with Snape and Harry. Not sure what, but something.

Horse Camp

*whew* Horse Camp was amazing! Our schedule was pretty simple. Get up at 7:00, eat at 8:00. 9:00am – 3:30: ride, do archery, dance and sing. 4:00-5:45: To the lake. Dinner about 6:00. 7:00-9:00: Scripture Discussion, more singing, dishes, campfire time. 10:00: Lights out.

We rode lots and lots and went on some absolutely lovely trail rides. I also cantered for a small bit. Very Happy!

I didn’t do that well in archery, but by the last day, if I tried hard, I could hit the target. ;)

Jamie N. choreographed some wonderful reel’s and line dances for the camp to learn, and Noela S. dug up some hilarious camp songs to belt out to the country side.

A week is a very long time to be away so I was thrilled to get back home to my bed, Mom, little sister, and my books. :D
I wasn’t able to get a lot of pictures of my sisters and I, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I will have more from friends.

Shakespeare Time

Since being involved in a Shakespeare Challenge (see post here), I've been reading lots and lots of Tragedy’s. Here are some comments on what I've recently read.

Hamlet: One of the first Shakespeares I read. I literally couldn't put it down. This would be so amazing on stage..*wishful thinking*

Romeo and Juliet: I had high hopes for this story and wasn't let down! A true lovers tale. In a play I would be Juliet.

Sweet, so would I. Yet I should kill thee with much cherishing. Good Night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow.

Julius Caesar: This tale had many famous lines that were really fun to read! I learned what my Latin teacher was really talking about when she said, "Et tu Brute". I felt oddly happy at the end...werid. I would love to play Brutus, but because of the gender issue, my second choice is Calphurnia.

The Raven League: Buffalo Bill Wanted!

Buffalo Bill’s Troupe is coming to town and guess who’s going to the show? Wiggins, Jennie, Dooley and Owens. Well, if they can figure out a way to get past the guard…

A copper is critically hurt, but you wouldn’t believe who the top suspect is.

Are the good guys really bad and might the bad guys be good? You will just have to find out!


When I was younger I read lots of mystery books. As I got older I expanded what I read and really never got back to a good old mystery. I was thrilled to pick up this book! It took me a little bit to get into, but once I did, I was in for a wild time.

Buffalo Bill Wanted is the second book in the Raven League series, but it can stand alone. Unexpected twists and turns frame this pleasing story.

Dream Quest

A horrible thing would be to find yourself inside your own nightmare and not able to get out. For Julie the same thing is happening to her, with two exceptions.
1. Her nightmares are being produced in a studio with actors, lights, cameras, and “action”.
2. She isn’t sure she wants to go back to her miserable life with her fighting parents.

As Julie travels through her own “mind” in a way, she decides it’s time to take a firm stand against the creators of her nightmares. But where to start?

Time is running out as Julie realizes Vivian (the actress who plays her in her dreams) has gone back through the tear in the fabric of Julie’s consciousness. Vivian arrives and starts messing around in the real world, possibly causing Julie’s permanent location to be in Slumberia.

I wished this book would never end. I mean, how cool is a studio that produces your nightmares? Dream Quest brings amazing adventure, imagination and a fabulous book. Brent Hartinger, the author of a bunch of books about teenagers, does good work!

Author Interview: Lisa Yee

Lisa Yee is the author of Millicent Min Girl Genius, Stanford Wong Flunks Big-Time, and So Totally Emily Ebers. I have read the first two and highly recommend them!

Did you originally plan to write three books?

Nope. The plan was just for one book, but then the idea about a parallel story from Millicent's enemy's POV smacked me in the head, literally. I remember the moment. I was driving and screamed out to my daughter, "Do you want a book about Stanford?"

About how long did it take you to complete each book?

Oh gosh, the first book took YEARS. Maybe six years? (I wrote three completely different versions and threw the first two away.) Although, I wasn't writing continuously for six years. There was a lot of start and stop.
My second novel took about nine months to write the first draft (?). It's hard for me to recall. So sad, this memory loss thing.
My third novel took about three or four months for the first draft.

Did you always want to be a author?
As soon as I could read, I knew that I wanted to write books.

With your experiences, would you recommend being an author?

Absolutely. Writing is a wonderful way to express yourself. Even if I was never published, I would still continue to write.

Can you tell me about your current projects?
I have a YA novel coming out next year called Charm School Dropout and an upcoming book for American Girl. I will also be writing a couple of elementary-grade novels. And I'm going to have a short story in an anthology called Geektastic.

If you could meet any person in the world, who would it be?

Hmmmm . . . how about Edward from Twilight or Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy? Or if they have to be a real person, then maybe J.K. Rowling while she's on Oprah's show and I am sitting on the couch between them.
